Why a design consultation is so important
"Design from the floor up" is a phrase often used in interior design. It means to start with the floor, which is usually the largest square footage area, and then coordinate wall colors, upholstery, case goods, etc., around it. It's not just a matter of buying a floor or cabinet; you need to be sure each element works together, so the room is completely pulled together. You also want it to be aligned with your home's overall decor; we'll start with an overview and then focus on the particular room and what you like and don't like about it. How to plan for the consultation
Be very clear about budget and don't just think about the product itself but also consider installation or any other costs. Then think about your likes and dislikes; the more you communicate, the better you can be guided. For example, do you like particular patterns, bold or subtle colors? Do you want to create a specific atmosphere, such as a spa atmosphere for the bath? If you're choosing wood floors, are there particular grain patterns and swirls you prefer?
Bring paint chips, wallpaper samples, fabric swatches, or even design pages from a magazine or even a vision board so we can see what you imagine. Keep an open mind and be willing to consider alternatives; for example, if you can't have hardwood flooring because of excessive dampness, would you be ready to explore a waterproof wood-look alternative?
